The first portal

This story is a spin off of "The Riddle of the Labyrinth" dealing with the Tarondan mage Chervin, one of the main characters in that story. This is a story about him as young man, a sophomore of magic on an assignment between semesters. An assignment to take him beyond the borders of the known world.
I've been thinking for a while now about writing something about those characters from "Labyrint", as I didn't feel ready for them, but not sure where to begin. But now these ideas are coming to fruitage.
